Professional Societies

Participation in professional societies is an important career development activity.  By being active in one or more professional societies, statisticians and biostatisticians can keep in touch with the academic, professional, and research community, maintain a network of professional contacts, and actively participate in academic and professional conferences (and attend at substantial discounts).  Students are also encouraged to join professional societies as well to begin to build their own professional networks before graduation.  Many societies offer greatly discounted and occasionally free memberships to students enrolled in study.

Below is a list of professional societies in statistics, biostatistics, and bioinformatics, with links to their home pages for more information.
