Admissions Requirements

In order to submit an application to one of the School of Public Health and Information Sciences (SPHIS) degree programs, you must apply to the University of Louisville Graduate School. Admission requirements for each SPHIS degree program are listed below.

Applications are only accepted for the Fall semester. There are no Spring or Summer admissions. There is no formal deadline.

MSc in Clinical Investigation Sciences

Fall semester - August 1 for Fall semester and Summer semester - April 1

Spring semester - accepted with program director approval

MS in Epidemiology

Fall semester - March 1 (International applicants); April 1 (US applicants)

To be competitive for available program scholarship opportunities, applicants should apply on or before March 1 for full consideration. 

Applicants must apply through the Centralized Application Service for Public Health (SOPHAS) at www.sophas.org


The full cost of the University of Louisville supplemental application will be required.

MS in Health Administration

Rolling - Students will be admitted for the fall semester only.

Applicants must apply through the Centralized Application Service for Public Health (SOPHAS) at www.sophas.org if applying to multiple schools. However, it is optional if only applying to UofL.

The full cost of the University of Louisville supplemental application will be required.

International students without a visa or green card must apply by March 1 to meet processing deadlines for fall admission.

MS in Health Data Analytics

Rolling - Students will be admitted for the fall semester only.

Applicants must apply through the Centralized Application Service for Public Health (SOPHAS) at www.sophas.org if applying to multiple schools. However, it is optional if only applying to UofL.

The full cost of the University of Louisville supplemental application will be required.

Master of Public Health (MPH)

Rolling - Students will be admitted for the fall semester only.

Applicants must apply through the Centralized Application Service for Public Health (SOPHAS) at www.sophas.org

International students without a visa or green card must apply by March 1 to meet processing deadlines for fall admission.

Students are encouraged to declare their concentration at the time of application, though applications from students that do not declare a concentration are also accepted. For students declaring concentrations, the faculty in each concentration review applicants for acceptance. Applications from students that do not declare a concentration are reviewed for acceptance by the MPH Program Director. Requirements for declaring concentrations in the MPH program after matriculation are:

--Undeclared students will need to identify to a concentration prior to Nov. 15th of their first semester.
--Students must be in good standing in MPH program.
--Any undeclared student will first meet with the department chair of director of the concentration prior to declaring that concentration to determine if they are any additional criteria for admission to that concentration.

PhD in Biostatistics

PhD in Public Health Sciences - Epidemiology

Fall semester - January 1 (International applicants); February 1 (US applicants)

PhD in Public Health Sciences - Health Promotion & Behavioral Sciences

Fall Semester - Applications received by December 31 will receive first consideration for admission and funding. Those received after March 31 will be considered based on availability of space in the program. International applications are due by March 1. Applications will not be accepted after June 1 for the following fall semester.
