  1. Further advance the interdisciplinary field of bioinformatics by conducting internationally recognized bioinformatics research in the broad areas of DNA and protein sequence analysis.
  2. Provide graduate-level bioinformatics educational training to produce graduates competitive at the regional, national, and international levels.
  3. Contribute to the bioinformatics growth in the Commonwealth of Kentucky through active participation in the Kentucky Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network (KBRIN) and the Kentucky Academy of Sciences (KAS).

Current Research Interests

The primary areas of interest for the bioinformatics lab are:

  1. Computational analysis of gene regulatory regions
  2. Variability and tissue specificity of gene products
  3. Systems biology approaches for gene expression meta-analysis
  4. Algorithmic development for analysis of Next-Generation sequencing data
