Dear Students, Alumni and Friends:

I would like to encourage you to browse the website and learn more about many of the exciting activities here. We offer a variety of degree programs as well as extensive research expertise in all areas of IE, with particular emphasis on logistics and supply chain management, advanced manufacturing, operations research, and ergonomics.

Undergraduate students pursue our integrated Bachelor of Science (BSIE) and Master of Engineering (MEngIE) degree programs. Both the BSIE and MEngIE programs are accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET). The integrated five-year MEngIE program is the only one of its kind in the country, and the only IE program in the State of Kentucky. The unique curriculum is combined with three mandatory semesters of paid cooperative internships. The co-operative education program is accredited by The American Council for Cooperative Education (ACCE). Students on coop internships work full-time in a real engineering job for an entire semester, and usually earn enough over the course of their three co-ops to cover most of the cost of their college education. Since, our graduates earn both the BSIE and MEngIE degrees, as well as gain a solid year of industrial experience, companies around the country eagerly hire our exceptional graduates.

We are also extremely proud of our online Master of Engineering in Engineering Management degree that we offer for working engineers. This program enables engineers from different disciplines all over the world to pursue a Master’s degree while they maintain their daytime engineering jobs. Students study and improve their engineering management skills, and then use those skills to advance their careers.

Finally, we offer the Master of Science (MSIE) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees, for students who want to pursue a more dedicated research path. Graduates from these degree programs have obtained prestigious positions as engineers, researchers and professors at outstanding institutions around the world.

So ... if you are interested in becoming an Industrial Engineer, then you can find no better place than the Department of Industrial Engineering at the J.B. Speed School of Engineering! Please don’t hesitate contact me if you have any questions or comments. Thanks for visiting the website.
