ECE Honors and Awards

Dean's List and Dean's Scholars

 

An undergraduate student who completes twelve or more (nine or more in summer terms) graded credits with all grades of "A", and no grades of "I", "X", or "U", is named a Dean’s Scholar.

 

An undergraduate student who completes twelve or more (nine or more in summer terms) graded credits with the grades of "A", "B", or "C" and a 3.5 grade-point average, with no grades of "I", "X", "U", "D", or "F", is named to the Dean’s List. Grades of "P" are not prohibited in Dean’s List qualifications, but cannot be used to meet the graded-credits minimum requirement.

Honor certificates are available online for Speed School.  To retrieve Dean's Scholar or Dean's List Certificate:

    • Log into your student U-Link account
    • Choose the Student Services tab
    • Click on the menu item "Deans Certificates"
    • Choose the certificate and semester you wish to access.

ECE Scholarships for which students my apply

  • Theobald Scholarship Award


    This scholarship is awarded to a student who best demonstrates academic achievement, entrepreneurial spirit, civic involvement, and a commitment to engineering science. All full-time ECE students who will graduate in or after May of the year the scholarship is awarded are invited to apply. This includes undergraduates, MEng, MS and Ph.D students. The application is available in January of each year from Jane Tanner, ECE Academic Advisor, Room 207 of W.S. Speed Hall, and will be due in mid-February each year.
  • Barnhouse Scholarship


    This scholarhip is awarded annually to support a deserving student in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The award is in memory of James D. Barnhouse, a Speed School graduate (BEE 1970), who was responsible for the design and implementation of the Community Core exhibit at Walt Disney's EPCOT Center. ECE students in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th years who are studying for the BSEE or MEng in EE are eligible to apply. This application is available in January of each year from Jane Tanner, ECE Academic Advisor, Room 207 of W.S. Speed Hall, and will be due in mid-February each year; a one-page resume is required with application submission.
