The BioImaging Lab won the first prize in the MICCAI Grand Challenge on MR Brain Image Segmentation (MRBrainS13) held in Nagoya, Japan in September 2013.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

The challenge consisted of an off-site and on-site challenge. For the off-site challenge, teams registered and downloaded 5 training sets of data and 12 sets of data for testing to secure a place in the competition. There were 86 international teams registered for the challenge, including top engineering schools such as Johns Hopkins, MIT, and Erasmus MC in the Netherlands. The top twelve teams, of which the BioImaging Laboratory was among, were invited to the on-site challenge and to submit their results along with a workshop paper describing their algorithm. They presented their results at the MRBrainS13 workshop at MICCAI in Nagoya, Japan and applied competed on-site with their algorithms on three additional sets of data during the workshop.
