What is the Brown Forman Engineering Academy?

This is a two-week, residential program designed to prepare accepted incoming engineering freshmen both academically and personally.  This enrichment program is designed to assist students with their transition into college through: academic prep, peer support, faculty relationship building, and student success programming.  Students accepted into this program will stay in the Engineering Living and Learning Community residence hall.  Additionally accepted students will share the same block of classes in the fall and will continue to meet as a cohort for both fall and spring semesters.

When is the program?

The program will run July 21st – August 1st, 2019.  Accepted participants will stay in Community Park Residence Hall for the entire time, including the weekend. All meals are included.

Who should apply?

Freshmen students who have been accepted into UofL Speed School of Engineering who are eager to ensure a successful transition into college.  Students must have applied for housing and must intend to sign up for orientation to be considered for the 2019 cohort. 24 students from the 2019 freshman engineering cohort will be admitted.

How to apply?

Complete an application online to be considered for the program. Applications will be accepted until April 22nd, 2019.Recommended that students upload a high school transcript and teacher recommendation. Students will have to answer short essay “Please tell us about yourself and how the Brown-Forman Engineering Academy (BFEA) will help you transition into Speed School.”

What will this cost me?

This program is FREE to admitted participants.  Thanks to the amazing support of Brown Forman this program has no cost to participants for room, food and planned activities.
