Claire Gothard has earned a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Morocco.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers research, study and teaching opportunities in more than 140 countries to recent graduates and graduate students. Administered in the U.S. by the Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Fulbright program was established in 1946 to promote international goodwill through education and cultural exchange.

I will teach English language classes to students at a top Moroccan university. I first visited Morocco right after I graduated high school and it quickly became my second home. I loved learning the language and exploring genuine cross-cultural curiosity. I am so honored to return and thrilled to use my excitement for vocabulary games and icebreakers for my job."

Undergraduate Achievements:

Graduated May 2019 with bachelor's degrees in economics and political science and a minor in Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies. She was also a McConnell Scholar and earned a fellowship to the Congress-Bundestag Young Professionals Exchange.

Inspiration:

Drs. Khaldoun Almousily and Julie Peteet for their support in her study of the Middle East and Arabic. Also the staff at the McConnell Center.
