New heights in high temperature polymer additive manufacturing

With NASA funding Tim Gornet has developed a selective laser sintering method to fabricate aerospace parts using a high temperature thermoset resin.

Carbon fiber blended with the polymer powder provides dimensional stability when the 3D shape is fully cured. This work is a collaboration among the Air Force Research Laboratory, NASA's Glenn Research Center and the University of Louisville. Details are published in a recent AFRL article.
