Brief Synopsis from Sponsor: To encourage a commitment to breast cancer research, Breast Cancer Alliance invites clinical doctors and research scientists whose primary focus is breast cancer and who are in the early stages of their careers, to apply for funding for the Young Investigator Grant. This grant is open to applicants at institutions throughout the contiguous United States.
This grant is intended to help advance the careers of young researchers who do not yet have their own major grant support but who design and conduct their own independent research projects. The grant provides salary support and project costs for a total of $125,000 (distributed over the two-year period.) Administrative costs, which are included in the $125,000 award, must be limited to 8% of grant funds
**If you have already submitted an LOI for an Exceptional Project Grant but were not asked to submit a full proposal, you are ineligible to submit the same proposal for Young Investigator Grant.
Please read full opportunity linked above before submitting your proposal.
Maximum Award Amount: This is a two-year grant for a total of $125,000, with half the grant award being paid out each year.
Be aware: BCA will accept a maximum of 2 YIG applications per institution. UofL will decide which to submit via an internal application process determined by peer review.
Anyone interested in submitting for this program must first submit an internal application to email@example.com with the opportunity title in the subject line and copying the applicable research dean, by 5 p.m. on the date listed above, including the following materials:
- A summary of the proposal (maximum two pages);
- A paragraph describing why you would be the most competitive candidate for this program;
- Your current curriculum vitae;
- A cover page that contains:
- The name of this funding opportunity and title of your proposal;
- Your name, position, and UofL office contact information;
- Collaborator names, positions, and institutions (if applicable).
Reviewers will judge proposals as they would in any peer review process, so PIs are urged to put forward competitive internal proposals. Along with typical criteria, reviewers will evaluate internal proposals based on their fit with the sponsor’s articulated goals and criteria as well as the UofL strategic goals.
The above internal application materials should be submitted via email as a single .PDF file to firstname.lastname@example.org by the internal deadline listed above.
