Financial Support

Typically, graduate students in the department are supported for 4 years of study.  Sources of funding include university fellowships and graduate assistantships.

Graduate Assistantships:

Most graduate students are awarded graduate assistantships. These include a stipend of approximately $1833/mo* plus full tuition remission and health insurance benefits for the academic year (12 months) in return for a 20-hour per week commitment, typically as a teaching assistant or research assistant.

University Fellowships:

A limited number of University Fellowships is awarded each year to outstanding students. These fellowships provide a stipend of $1833/mo* plus full tuition remission and health insurance benefits for the academic year (12 months). A University Fellowship is a one-year award, renewable for one additional year. After this time, students typically assume graduate assistantships.
