The modern work environment is full of distractions. Even with a strong work ethic, e-mails, social media and chatty co-workers cut into productivity and prompt procrastination. Work left unfinished today becomes a mountain of work due tomorrow. That is how a lack of productivity can become one of the biggest causes of profit loss for organizations.
A national survey conducted by Harris Poll included 2,175 hiring and human resource managers across industries. The managers said that compromised quality of work, lower morale due to other employees having to pick up the slack, negative impact on employee relationships, missed deadlines and loss in revenue were all consequences of distraction.
