The following description details the elements and background context of the framework. Ross’ Research Framework Description: As a researcher for over 30 years, I have worked with research teams in different parts of the world, including Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and North America. My focused area is in the mental health of culturally diverse, complex, and vulnerable populations including those who have experienced violence, stigmatization, trauma, and extreme stress, taking social determinants of health into account. Overall, I use a rigorous research design (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods) to find answers to research questions. My other areas of expertise involve research methodology and measurement. Examples of contributions based on my work include a recommendation to screen for depression in pregnant women with HIV (Ross et al., 2011) by the U.S. HHS Panel on Treatment of HIV-infected Pregnant Women and Prevention of Perinatal Transmission (ClinicalInfo.NIH.Gov, 2022), as well as the creation of the SATTELLITE sexual violence assessment and care guide for perinatal patients (Ross et al., 2009).
