  1. How do I register for orientation?
    You must submit your orientation registration form and fee ($130) online. Orientation registration will be available beginning March 16. Use the tab on the left to access the registration link. You will need your last name and student ID number to log into the form. Select your top three session dates on the form. You will receive an email with your confirmed session date to your UofL cardmail account within 5-10 business days. Please do not make travel arrangements until you receive the confirmation email.
  2. Can I register for orientation over the phone?
    No, orientation registration must be submitted online.
  3. What business will I take care of during orientation?
    You will meet with an academic adviser, register for classes, and get your Student ID. You will also have a chance to learn about many campus groups and offices.
  4. Do I have to attend orientation?
    Yes, orientation is mandatory for all degree seeking students.
  5. What do I have to bring to orientation? (freshmen only)

  6. Where do I park?
    Free parking is available only in the main entrance of the Floyd St. Parking Garage on the first morning of your session. The gate will be lifted at 7 a.m. If you park elsewhere, we cannot refund any fee or ticket assessed for alternate parking choices. DO NOT PARK ON THE PAY/VISITOR SIDE OF THE LOT. Directions to the parking garage can be found on the "Parking and Directions" tab.
  7. What should I wear?
    Dress is casual. We will be indoors and outdoors; don’t forget to bring an umbrella if rain is in the forecast! Some rooms are cooler than others, so dress accordingly.
  8. Do my parents have to come?
    We offer an optional Family Orientation ($40 per participant). The family program is one day that runs concurrent with the first day of the student session. You can meet up during lunch and dinner.
  9. I cannot attend any of the session dates. Are there other options?
    No. You must attend a listed session date.
  10. Am I required to stay on campus during the entire program?
    Yes. All components of the program are mandatory. If you leave at anytime during the program you will not be able to register for classes.
  11. What do I do if I have to work?
    Please make arrangements with your employer, we can provide documentation that you attended or plan to attend orientation.
  12. When will I be finished?
    You should be done by 4 p.m. on day two of your session.
  13. Can I bring a friend or significant other to orientation?
    Family members may register for family orientation. Family Orientation is $40 per participant. The Family Orientation program is one day that runs concurrent with the first day of the student session.
  14. What if I want to change my major/session?
    If you change your major there is a possibility that your orientation date will need to be changed as there are limits on the number of majors per session. Any additional session change requests will be charged a $25 fee before processed.
  15. Can my parents come with me to my advising session?
    No, you will meet with professional staff to ensure that you make an appropriate schedule. Schedules can be discussed with families at meals.
  16. What do I do about AP classes?
    Results from some AP exams won’t be available until after orientation. Your academic adviser will help you plan an appropriate schedule. Contact your adviser after orientation upon receipt of your scores if any changes are necessary.
  17. Are there any financial aid resources you can offer?
    Please visit our student financial aid website. Also, CashCourse is brought to you by The National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) and the University of Louisville. At this website, you can learn about financial basics, paying for college, college life, and the world of work.
  18. I don't know if I need to take a placement test.
    Detailed information about placement tests is available on the Testing Services website. Look to the menu on the left for specific test information.
  19. Are there any special directions for Engineering students?
    Speed School students must fill out the Engineering Intake Form prior to orientation to be used for your advising at orientation. The Speed advisers will provide you with more information and if you have further questions you can speak with them at that time. Some Speed School students may be contacted to complete necessary testing. This information will come from the Speed School and questions regarding the tests should be directed to their offices at 502-852-6281.
