About

Won Joo Ahn is the Assistant Director of Choral Activities and Assistant Professor of Performance Studies at the University of Louisville, where she directs the University Chorus and Women’s Chorus and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in conducting. Ahn received her DMA in 2020 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied with Dr. Andrew Megill. Her dissertation focused on the selected works by Ukraine-born-Estonian Composer Galina Grigorjeva. During her doctorate studies, she directed a treble choir, Illini Women. Ahn earned her Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Louisville under Dr. Kent Hatteberg. She graduated as valedictorian, receiving her Bachelor of Music from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. Dr. Ahn is active as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and choir clinician.
