Sean Mulhall

Music History

Sean Mulhall earned BA degrees in Sociology-Urban Affairs and Music History from the University of Louisville, and an MA degree in Ethnomusicology from New York University. Over the past ten years, he has gain much teaching experience in both academic courses and performance settings, having taught as a preceptor and teaching assistant at NYU for four years and as an adjunct instructor and ensemble director for six years at UofL. He has held memberships in several professional organizations, including the Percussive Arts Society and the Society for Ethnomusicology, and attended in a number of organizational conventions and meetings. Sean has also performed extensively as a percussionist in various rock bands and jazz combos in Louisville and New York, and frequently plays tenor banjo and percussion with Irish traditional music ensembles in Louisville and Chicago. He has participated in many workshops in various musical styles, including jazz, Irish, Caribbean and Arabic music, in Louisville, New York, Chicago and Ireland.
