The Division of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Louisville is a clinically busy team, averaging 4,500 operative cases each year. The physicians care for the entire spectrum of general pediatric surgical problems, including neonatal issues, childhood tumors and trauma and burn patients. Members of the Division are actively involved in international, national, state, regional, and local activities. All members of the Division participate in education of medical students, pediatric and general surgery residents, and are faculty for the Pediatric Surgery Fellowship program.

Norton Children’s Hospital is well known for providing comprehensive pediatric care. The hospital has achieved Level One Pediatric Trauma designation from the American College of Surgeons and is a regional Cancer Center for Children, also as determined by the American College of Surgeons. Pediatric cancer patients are included in national studies via the Children’s Oncology Group.

The Division has six full time Pediatric Surgery faculty and an ACGME approved Pediatric Surgery resident program that trains one resident every two years.
