Craig S. Roberts, MD, MBA

Dr. Roberts has been the K. Armand Fischer Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Louisville (UL) since 2011. He wears many hats: clinician, mentor, educator, and leader. Clinically, he has taken three decades of level one orthopaedic trauma call, and serves as Director of the Division of Orthopaedic Trauma. Roberts has been a member of ACGME Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Review Committee (RRC), President of the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association, Chair of the Classification Committee of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, and UL Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program Director/Residency Director for two decades. He presently serves as Deputy Editor (Upper Extremity) for the journal Injury and has been a scientist reviewer for Federal agencies. Also, Roberts is an Advisory Dean at the UL School of Medicine (SOM) for first, second, third, and fourth year medical students, and serves as the ULSOM Senior Faculty Representative to the AAMC Council of Faculty and Academic Societies. He has published over 135 papers and 25 book chapters. Roberts is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS), American Orthopaedic Association (FAOA), and the American College of Health Care Executives (FACHE), in which he is also a member of the CEO circle. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of University of Louisville Physicians, Inc. and on the Board of Trustees of the Alumni Association of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery of the New York University Langone Medical Center.
