General Obstetric & Gynecology - Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery

The physicians who make up the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology provide comprehensive medical and surgical care for women of all ages. This includes vaginal, open, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques and surgeries.

Services include health maintenance screenings, routine pregnancy care for normal and high-risk deliveries, and treatment for female-specific medical conditions and diseases, such as treatment of fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, endometriosis, pelvic pain, and ovarian abnormalities.

The division also provides support services to all subspecialties within the department and leads medical student and residency education in gynecology and obstetrics.

Ongoing research areas include menstrual disorders, dysplasia, pelvic pain, colposcopy, and female pelvic reconstructive surgery.

Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery

Our nationally-recognized program focuses on a wide range of minimally invasive, advanced laparoscopic procedures, such as supracervical hysterectomies, laparoscopic myomectomy, laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis and pelvic pain, and pelvic floor reconstruction. With these procedures, patients recover sooner with less pain and have lower risks of complications than with open abdominal surgeries. The division’s two-year fellowship program trains physicians who operate with the endoscopic surgeons.
