The 2022 Internal Medicine Awards Day honored the graduating trainees of the UofL internal medicine residency and fellowship programs

For a group of residents and fellows who are completing their training during the most unusual of times, a little recognition and a few awards were just the way to wrap up the academic year in style.

The University of Louisville Department of Medicine and Internal Medicine Residency Program presented virtually the annual Internal Medicine Awards Day as a way to honor the trainees and faculty who have maintained a strong commitment to medical education, especially in light of working through a lingering global pandemic.

"Ultimately, what separates an academic Department of Medicine from all other clinical entities and medical industries is our educational mission," Dr. Jennifer Koch, director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program said. "It's important that we take time out each academic year to recognize the academic achievements of our residents and fellows, and thank our faculty members for their dedication to teaching.

"On behalf of the Internal Medicine Residency Program and the Department of Medicine, I wish each of our graduates the best as they embark on exciting next steps in their careers!"

Koch was joined by other residency and fellowship directors to honor individual award winners and to also thank the trainees and wish them well as they continue their medical careers in various academic and private practice opportunities.
