"Did You Know: Dr. Linda Goss, DNP APRN, and Dr. Ruth Carrico, PhD DNP APRN, at UofL Global Health Center, have developed a latent tuberculosis infection clinic specifically to treat newly arriving refugees with the 12-week treatment regimen using Isoniazid and Rifapentine with directly observed therapy. This alternative process resulted in a 97-percent completion rate. Implementation of culturally tailored approaches to treatment of LTBI have proven to be effective in this vulnerable population."

"Did You Know: Dr. Ruth Carrico DNP, PhD, and Luanne Didelot, MSN, MHA, from the University of Louisville Vaccine and International Travel Center, have been providing travel education and preventative disaster relief health care to approximately 60 LG&E and KU employees who volunteered to restore power in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. UofL Vaccine and International Travel Center nurse leaders provided disaster travel education as well as an onsite travel clinic to administer vaccinations and medications to prevent potential disease. LG&E and KU Absence Management Program Manager, Regina Calhoun RN BSN CCM, coordinated the health campaign with UofL."
