Brian Domitrovic, a Forbes.com columnist and history professor at Sam Houston State University, will discuss why he thinks it is time to revisit the gold standard. The discussion marks the first of five McConnell Center public lectures this fall.

"The Great Recession hasn't really left us yet, and one of the reasons appears to be a faulty approach to monetary policy–outsized money printing from the Federal Reserve, it is now clear, does not bring the American economy back to happy days of prosperity, jobs and opportunity," Domitrovic said. "Waiting in the wing is the monetary system that supervised the Industrial Revolution and is the best hope now for getting the nation back on the track of growth, employment and better lives: gold."
