Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement

The Department of Mathematics of the University of Louisville is committed to fostering an inclusive academic environment that is representative of our diverse community, and empowers our faculty, staff, and students to pursue and extend mathematical knowledge without fear of prejudice or bias.

We recognize and affirm that mathematical potential is independent of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, physical ability, national origin, military status, religious beliefs, political views, and socioeconomic background.

As the Department of Mathematics of the University of Louisville, we are committed to

  • attracting, retaining, and supporting students, faculty, and staff who reflect the diversity of our community,

  • ensuring equitable access to mathematical resources and opportunities to all members of our department, college, university, community, and state,

  • maintaining an educational community that offers a nurturing and challenging intellectual climate with an expectation that all will be included.

As members of the broader academic community, we are committed to developing a greater understanding of our own implicit biases and working towards a greater understanding of what unites us all.
