Amber Carrier Student Ally Award for LGBT Service
No movement is very successful without the engaged efforts of the allies who stand up for what is right. The LGBT Center is committed to honoring students who step outside their own identity as allies and help create a more welcoming, inclusive campus for LGBT students, faculty and staff. The award was established in 2010 to honor graduate student Amber Carrier for her efforts to establish a graduate assistantship in the LGBT Center. Amber used her influence as a campus leader to leverage the resources needed and worked tirelessly to create the new position. The Amber Carrier Student Ally Award for LGBT Service honors her contributions by recognizing outstanding student allies each year during the Student Life Awards ceremony hosted by the Division of Student Affairs.
