Dave Armstong, the last elected mayor of the old City of Louisville and who served two earlier terms as Jefferson County judge-executive, died June 15, 2017, at age 75.

Armstrong was a 1969 alumnus of the Brandeis School of Law and was named an outstanding alumnus in 2008.

“The Brandeis School of Law is proud to count Dave Armstrong among its alumni. His commitment to public service and his love for the city of Louisville reflect values that Justice Brandeis held dear. We are saddened to hear of his death but are thankful for the lasting impact he has made on our city," said Dean Susan Duncan.

"On a personal note, as a young woman I knew David Armstrong as a result of my father's friendship with him. I will always be grateful for his support, advice and encouragement. He was one of the many alums who make Brandeis School of Law such a special place," Duncan said.
