The application for the 2022 TFAS Summer Law Fellowship in Washington, D.C. is now open.  The application deadline is February 25.  Program dates are May 26, 2022 - July 29, 2022.

Hosted by The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) in partnership with the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University, the TFAS Summer Law Fellowship is an intensive 9-week legal internship and academic program that aims to prepare future attorneys to defend the values and ideals of a free society rooted in individual liberty, limited government, free enterprise and constitutional originalism.  

Selected fellows will receive a full-tuition scholarship to attend the program and housing for the duration of the program. Awards are highly selective – only 25 students will be selected to participate.

TFAS is committed to educating the next generation of attorneys to advance a free society rooted in individual liberty, limited government, free enterprise, and constitutional originalism.

If you’re eager to do your part to secure, preserve, and protect these fundamental principles, we welcome you to apply. The fellowship is an intensive 9-week legal internship and academic program with credit from George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School. The program also includes furnished housing in Washington, D.C., professional development and networking opportunities, as well as guest lectures and site briefings.

Full-time legal internships include:

  • Private and public interest law firms
  • Nonprofit organizations
  • Legal departments of trade associations, corporation and government agencies

Admissions and Selections Criteria

Competitive candidates should have a strong academic record and demonstrated interest in the principles of originalism, limited government, and free enterprise, and a commitment to honorable leadership and the values essential to the preservation and success of a free society.

Twenty-five Fellowships will be awarded for the 2022 TFAS Summer Law Fellowship program. Selected fellows will receive a full scholarship covering Scalia Law tuition, housing and program fees.

Summer Law Fellowship applicants must submit an official transcript and letter of recommendation. Please view the application checklist below for detailed instructions.

Please keep in mind that your application will not be passed on to the Admissions Committee for review until all of the required materials have been received.

Eligibility
All law students over the age of 18 in good standing from an ABA-accredited law school are eligible to apply to the Summer Law Fellowship.

Selection Criteria
Competitive candidates will have a strong academic record with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, demonstrated interest in the principles of originalism, limited government and free enterprise, and commitment to honorable leadership and the values essential to the preservation and success of a free society.
