FLATS Exam

The Foreign Language Achievement Testing Services or FLATS testing program allows students all across the United States to take the FLATS test at a college or university in their area, and receive up to 12 college credits. The exam is offered in over 50 languages.

Who should take the FLATS Exam

The FLATS exam can be taken by any student who speaks a language other than English and would like to fulfill the language requirement by testing out. Unlike a language waiver, a passing score on the FLATS exam can earn students  up to 12 credit hours. The FLATS exam is a good option for students who are native speakers of a language and would like to fulfill the language requirement without taking classes but still want to earn credit. The FLATS exam is offered in over 50 languages which makes it a good option for students who speak a language that is not tested by any other exam or cannot be evaluated to get a Foreign Language Waiver. To learn more about the FLATS exam, please visit the FLATS Exam website.
