Biography
Lluís Baixauli-Olmos started working at the Classical and Modern Languages Department at UofL in 2013 as an Assistant Professor in Translation & Interpreting (Spanish). Before that he had taught at Jamia Millia Islamia University (New Delhi, India) for three years and Universitat Jaume I (Castelló, Spain) for two years. In this last university he completed his PhD in 2012, with the help of a government funded doctoral scholarship program. His doctoral dissertation focused on interpreter ethics and its application to the prison setting.
Lluís has had professional experience as a translator and interpreter. Ranging from subtitling work, to medical and academic translation or conference interpreting, his working languages are Catalan and Spanish (A), English (B) and French and Italian (C). He is a certified computer-aided translation tools user by SDL and is working on his certification in court interpreting.
He has taught graduate seminars in Interpreting, Legal Translation and Interpreting, Computers in Translation and undergraduate courses (like intermediate Spanish or Spanish composition).
