Join a free webcast intended for any existing or potential Endorser of the U.S. EPA WasteWise Program. The WasteWise Endorser Program engages state and local government agencies, trade associations, non-profit organizations and businesses to help educate their constituents about the benefits of reducing solid waste. Endorsers of the WasteWise Program demonstrate their environmental leadership and play a pivotal role in conserving our natural resources and preventing pollution.
Presentations will include an overview of the WasteWise Program and what it means to be an Endorser or a partner. Participants will hear a brief walk-through of the WasteWise Re-TRAC database, the new tracking and reporting system for WasteWise partners, and hear varied perspectives from two notable WasteWise Endorsers:
Morgan Harriman, Commercial Waste Reduction Planner at the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. Ms. Harriman provides outreach to businesses and organizations interested in starting recycling programs. She is Coordinator of the Massachusetts WasteWise Program, Administrator of the Mass Material Trader, an on-line material exchange, and contact for the Supermarket Recycling Program. Prior to working for MassDEP, Ms. Harriman was a Recycling Coordinator for Municipalities in Massachusetts and Maine. She currently serves on the Massachusetts Chapter of SWANA as Program Coordinator.
John Ruth, General Manager of the Exel Distribution Facility in Lockport, New York. Exel, Inc. is part of Deutsche Post DHL. Exel provides services such as supply chain analysis and design, supply chain management, warehousing, in-plant services, kitting and assembly, transportation management, home and business delivery and reverse logistics. The Exel Lockport Site has been a WasteWise Partner since 2004, winning an honorable mention for waste prevention and recycling for 2007 and the Endorser of the Year Award for activities in 2008. Along with other community outreach activities, the Exel Lockport Site is also active in the Niagara County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) in Western New York.
A question and answer session will follow the presentations.
