During this three-day workshop, an operational photovoltaic system will be available to provide hands-on experiences with system components. Participants will be able to view wiring, mounting and programming features up close and will walk through the commissioning and troubleshooting process with the instructor. The model PV system used for the workshop will be a 1.4 KW battery-based off-grid system, built onto a Mobile Classroom trailer. Ample time for questions will be provided.
Topics to be Addressed:
- PV system components, characteristics & uses
- System types and relevant UL IEEE & NEC issues
- Installation techniques for systems
- Code issues
- Working with the PV array, wire runs and balance of system
- Commissioning protocol
- System completion checkout
- Demonstrate system inspection
- Identify common mistakes

Registration fee for the three-day workshop is $415, and includes lunch and refreshments each day.
Prerequisite: Introduction to Photovoltaics.
This workshop is presented by Appalachia – Science in the Public Interest and the Kentucky Solar Partnership as part of their Sustainable Energy Training Series. The series is oriented towards professionals seeking to expand their knowledge and the scope of services they offer, as well as others interested in learning more about these important fields.
