Wind power in Kentucky is still in its early stages.  However, the benefits of wind energy to rural communities could be substantial.  In this video, Larry Flowers discusses how communities can take advantage of both short term economic impacts from turbine construction and long term impacts from wind energy jobs, lease payments to land owners, and an expanded local tax base.

Larry Flowers is the National Technical Director of the Wind Powering America program at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, located in Golden, CO.  The Wind Powering America program's purpose is to "establish new sources of income for American farmers, Native Americans, and other rural landowners, and meet the growing demand for clean sources of electricity."
