Energy Services Message from the Executive Director
Reduction in KPPC Energy Efficiency Funding and Services
March 11, 2013
Dear Valued KPPC Client,
We have appreciated the opportunity to provide our energy efficiency (E2) technical assistance services to you as a result of funding we received that was specifically targeted toward delivery of those services. Unfortunately, KPPC has experienced a reduction in that funding which leaves us with limited ability to conduct E2-related training activities or on-site facility assessments for industrial and commercial facilities across the Commonwealth. Due to this circumstance, the Center is currently assessing our E2 service delivery capabilities and will evaluate requests for assistance on a case-by-case basis.
Please understand that this situation only affects our ability to provide E2 services and we remain available to assist you with your other pollution prevention efforts. However, it is important to note that we have had to reduce our staffing level, which may affect how quickly we can respond to your request. Regardless, we are committed to providing the quality customer service and technical expertise that you have come to expect from the Center.
In the meantime, the following suggestions are provided as resources for E2 assistance:
Environmental Sustainability Resource Center (ESRC)
KPPC administers the ESRC, which is a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange (P2Rx™) network of regional centers. The ESRC serves EPA’s Regions 3 and 4 with comprehensive online resources, news and information about pollution prevention and energy efficiency. The ESRC Rapid Response Service assists in locating environmental sustainability information and answering technical environmental sustainability questions. Our staff of technical experts receives requests and, in consultation with other P2Rx™ Centers, performs research of P2Rx™ resources.
While we are not available to provide on-site services through the ESRC, we can provide research and assistance for energy-related questions through the Rapid Response Service. Please call toll free (855) 531-3772 or use the online assistance request form to take advantage of this free service.
KPPC Web-based Resources
The Center provides various online energy management resources:
- Sustainability Toolbox – includes resources to help address energy, waste, water, financial and other needs around environmental-related program needs.
- Webinars – a compilation of recorded webinars to assist with better understanding of technical environmental issues, including compressed air, power factor, demand management and water efficiency.
- Consultants Directory – a self-listed directory of consultants and other organizations performing sustainability-related services.
Kentucky Industrial Assessment Center (KIAC)
The University of Kentucky’s KIAC utilizes the university’s engineering college as a resource for small to medium manufacturers in the region by sending teams of faculty and students to conduct a plant assessment. The energy assessments are free of charge to the company as a result of the funding through the US Department of Energy.
Utility Service Providers
You are encouraged to contact your local utility service provider to find out if they have any resources to assist you. Please let us know if you need contact information for your provider.
Please know that we are actively seeking new sources for funding and hope we can continue to serve you as an E2 technical assistance provider in the future. Updates on the status of our E2 services will be posted on this website as they become available and will also be provided in our monthly newsletter, Sustainable Solutions Post.
Thanks for your efforts in environmental sustainability!
