UofL Distinguished Faculty Awards

Every year, the University honors faculty who bring distinction to the university through their commitment to the areas of service, teaching, and outstanding scholarship, research, and creative activity. This year the following five Kent School faculty members were recognized for their service, teaching and/or research: Martin Hall, Karen Kayser, Bibhuti Sar, Lori Paris and Sharon Sanders. Dr. Emma Sterrett-Hong
Dr. Emma Sterrett-Hong is the new Associate Dean of Equity and Inclusion. Emma brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and passion into this new role. Since joining the Kent School in 2011, she has taken on a number initiatives related to social justice, equity, and inclusion. More information available here.

Dr. Andy Frey
Dr. Andy Frey was recently appointed as the new Director of the Doctoral Program.

Dr. Sharon Moore
Dr. Sharon Moore, and her co-authors who were recently awarded the 8th Annual Florence W. Vigilante Award for Scholarly Excellence. The award is given annually in honor of the founding editor of the Journal of Teaching in Social Work. More information is available here.

Dr. Eli Karam
Dr. Eli Karam, has been selected by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy as the recipient of the 2020 AAMFT Excellence in Media Award. More information available here.

Dr. Heehyul Moon
Dr. Hee Hyul Moon, was awarded the Native Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center for Minority Aging Research (NAD RCMAR) pilot grant funded by National Institute on Aging (NIA). More information available here.

Dr. Betty Shiels
Dr. Betty Shiels and her team were awarded a grant for $2,072,000 over the next 3 years for an emergency preparedness grant proposal for North Carolina.

Dr. Heather Storer
The EVPRI Internal Research Grant Committee recommended Dr. Storer's Research I proposal entitled, "Project #Connect: Domestic Violence Agencies Use of Digital Technologies to Increase Service Utilization Among Socially Underrepresented Adolescents" for funding. More information available here.

Dr. Armon Perry
Nearly $1 Million Awarded to Teach Young Kentuckians Parenting, Finance Skills. This award will develop responsible parenting and economic mobility interventions for teens and young adults. Kent School team members: Armon Perry, Ph.D., MSW, Cheri Langley, Ph.D, MPH, CHES, Danielle Whiteside, MSC, and William Mack, BA will be working in partnership with the Kentucky Department of Income Support (DIS), an agency of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, the Louisville Urban League and the Louisville Metro Office of Resilience and Community Resources (Neighborhood Place), Jefferson County Public Schools and their Family Resource Center Coordinators on this project. Dr. Crystal Collins-Camargo
Dr. Crystal Collins-Camargo, co-authored this recently published manuscript, “A New Perspective: Administrator Recommendations for Reducing Child Welfare Turnover,” a collaboration between the Center for Child Welfare Education and Research, Kent School of Social Work - University of Louisville, University of Kentucky College of Social Work, and the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services.
