Workshop Info: This presentation will cover HIV from Micro, Mezzo, and Macro perspectives, sprinkled with personal experiences. The origins of the virus, what it does in the body, the ways it can and cannot be spread will be covered extensively. We will review the history of HIV and how that narrative has altered over time. The physical symptoms and opportunistic infections the virus can bring onto the body will be explained. The various modes of transmission of HIV, the fluids in which HIV can be found, and the different levels of risk associated with different activities. We will discuss the risks associated with HIV and pregnancy/child birth.
