Program Description:

This presentation for beginning, intermediate or advanced social workers will take an intellectual and emotional journey into what is happening in the brain of children who are experiencing domestic violence in their home.  We will start with understanding what domestic violence looks like, smells like, feels like, tastes like, and sounds like for young children.  Then we will walk through how the key elements of healthy development are impacted starting with the stress a women experiences while pregnant through the long term impact on the young child in the home.  This interactive emotionally charged session will conclude with real solutions to how we can help families and children who have experienced or are experiencing trauma.
