Presenters: Michael Taylor, LMFT and Patricia Sheldon, LCSW

Program Description:

The presenters will describe how Social Workers can utilize current research on neuroscience and attachment theory to inform their practice.  Presenters will connect the research directly to the use of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy as a model for couples work.  Presenters will provide examples of how neurophysiology, affect regulation and attachment impact couples work.  Presenters will demonstrate through experiential exercises material presented.

  • Participants will learn current research on neuroscience as it relates to Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
  • Participants will learn current research on attachment theory as it relates to Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
  • Participants will learn implications of current research on neurophysiology; affect regulation and attachment on Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
  • Participants will practice key interventions in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy to experience the connection between research and the model
