JOB TITLE: Lab Manager/Research Engineer - Lutz Microtechnology Cleanroom

Manage and coordinate the technical operations of the Lutz Microtechnology Cleanroom of the Speed Scientific School.


Provide micro technology expertise on critical interdisciplinary MEMS/micro fabrication research projects. Design, layout, model, fabricate, and test MEMS devices and systems.

Install and calibrate scientific instrumentation and provide/coordinate appropriate service, repair, and modifications.

Design and enforce proper cleanroom protocols. Design standard operating procedures (SOPs) for micro technology instrumentation.

Design proper safety protocols and interface with appropriate university entities on related safety issues. Review and approve safe operating conditions of equipment.

Manage the operation of the university Lutz Microtechnology web site.

Provide microtechnology training for undergraduate and graduate students.

Assist in technical writing of research grants, reports, publications, and presentations.

Assist with the presentation and laboratory experience of the NSF sponsored microfabrication courses.

Participate in major research contracts.

Coordinate the hiring and training of technical personnel for the cleanroom.


Master's degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering.


Four years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
