JOB SUMMARY

Perform general law enforcement duties and responsibilities.  Responsible for fire safety education, prevention and life safety code compliance at the University of Louisville. Responsible for Disaster & Emergency Management on all University campuses.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

Development and updating of University-Wide Emergency Operations Plan (Disaster Planning).

Development and updating of University-Wide Notification Program.

Coordinate and direct Fire Safety Building Evacuation Drills. Review and investigate Fire Incidents on all campuses. Coordinate correction of Safety and mechanical problems.

Coordinate and conduct Fire Code Compliance Inspections of University buildings. Coordinate correction of code violations. Assist State Fire Marshall during annual state code inspection. Review Fire Marshall's findings and correct stated problems.

First response to University Fire Alarms, Hazardous Materials Incidents, Emergency Medical runs and University Disasters.

Implement and enforce University Fire Safety Policies. Enforce Federal, State and local Fire Codes and Laws.

Develop and implement University Fire Safety and Disaster Safety/Response Programs

Maintain and perform statistical analysis of University Fire Incidents, including annual Fire Safety Report.

Motorized patrol of all University property in marked or unmarked police vehicle. Patrol of University property on foot. Patrol of the interior of University buildings. Enforcement of state laws, city ordinances and University regulations regarding parking and traffic. Investigation of criminal offenses and traffic accidents and the documentation of same on the appropriate report. Arresting, searching and transporting prisoners, testifying in court. Responding to alarms and trouble runs.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS

Bachelor's degree in a related field, KLEC police basic academy, certification as a state Fire Prevention Inspector and certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.

EXPERIENCE

Four years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
