JOB TITLE: HVAC Mechanic Apprentice

JOB SUMMARY

Participate in a three-year apprenticeship program to qualify as a Journeyman HVAC Mechanic.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

Complete prescribed credit hours of technical school classroom instruction.

Complete three years of shop work which includes installation, service and repair of all types of A/C, refrigeration and commercial chiller systems, chilled water and hot water pipes, pumps, fan coil units, air handling units, and all sizes of heating systems from residential to steam boilers, compressors and air control systems, under the direction of a Master license.

Prepare for and take Refrigerant Recovery Certification Program Type I and II.

Prepare for and take State approved Journeyman HVAC license test within three months after completing classroom instruction and three years of shop work.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS

High school diploma, valid driver's license, physical, respirator test, police record check and be insurable by the University's insurance carrier.  Must meet admission requirements for Jefferson Technical College.

EXPERIENCE

One year of HVAC and/or building maintenance experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
