JOB SUMMARY

Design, inspect, calibrate, construct, and repair laboratory, research, television broadcast and/or audio-visual electronic instruments, systems and/or apparatus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Construct and test electronic circuits, specialized instruments, and laboratory models of circuits and equipment.

Assist in designing experimental models, television and/or audio-visual systems, and modifications to existing apparatus.

Select materials, basic circuits, and components to be employed in construction and modification of instruments and equipment.

Operate complex electronic instruments and equipment.

Evaluate the need for and recommend the purchase of equipment, instruments, and supplies.

Demonstrate methods and techniques of design, construction, maintenance, and operation of electronic instruments and equipment.

May assist with TV production and engineering operations.

Install and service computers and related equipment.

Perform maintenance on research and teaching microscopes.

Operate, troubleshoot, service, and repair patient clinic equipment.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, AND SKILLS

Associate's degree in Electronics or two years' post-high school technical electronic training. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.

EXPERIENCE

Three years of related experience.
