Job Summary

To provide technical support for a variety of engineering research laboratories ranging from "wet chemistry" based to microfabrication cleanroom and electro-optics.

Duties and Responsibilities

Select, purchase, and install laboratory equipment.

Design, modify and/or operate laboratory equipment as required.

Participate with laboratory directors in the planning, equipping, and execution of laboratory projects and assist in the analysis of data and presentation of research results.

Assist in the design and implementation of computerized data collection and analysis systems.

Work with graduate students in designing apparatus and conducting experiments in an atmosphere of safe lab practice.

Supervise the work of laboratory assistants and/or work-study students.

Assist laboratory directors in the analysis of data and presentation of research results.

Troubleshoot equipment and laboratory system problems. Maintain and/or calibrate laboratory equipment and systems to assure safety and accuracy of operation.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

Four year degree - Chemistry, Physics, or Engineering Technology

Experience

Four years related experience. Post graduate education in related field may be substituted for up to two years experience.
