JOB TITLE: Coordinator, Health Sciences Student Counseling

JOB SUMMARY

 

Provide individual and group counseling for personal and mental health concerns at all four schools on the Health Sciences Campus, as well as consultation to faculty and staff regarding student referrals or issues. 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

Provide referral services to mental health professionals in the community.

Provide follow-up for students who are having academic difficulty, have failed Boards and are on leaves of absence.

Provide individual counseling services including initial visits, emergency services and crisis intervention.

Develop and direct a formal career-counseling program for residency placement.

Contribute to the gathering of information and initial summaries for the Dean's Letters for four-year medical students.

Lead support groups on students' issues, such as parenting, substance abuse and stress reduction.

Consult with groups and committees to identify needs and resources for improving the psychological environment of the HSC campus.

Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & SKILLS

 

Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling/Education or Psychiatric RN. Must be licensed mental health practitioner.

EXPERIENCE

 

Two years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
