The Executive Producer for University Communications oversees broadcast production, including supervision over planning, development and execution of public affairs programming for Public Radio partnership radio stations and WHAS radio.


Develop new radio programming. This involves generating creative ideas, developing radio formats, pitching ideas to program directors for acceptance, researching and writing proposals and then programs. The programs I create are designed to present the accomplishments of U of L people, highlight U of L events and/or present U of L as the source for high quality radio programming featuring science, arts and humanities topics.

Administer these programs (develop budgets, secure funding, market and promote programs).

Produce and host some of the programs, (includes mastery of all technical equipment, editorial decisions, supervising other producers and hosts, etc.); explore advancing technology such as the world wide web for audio carriage of programs. (Currently supervising two producers, one call screener and one host.)

Research and write programs.

Perform other licensee duties, such as on-air work during pledge drives, attending ascertainment, etc.


Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field


Five years of related experience in radio broadcasting, writing and production. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements.
