Plan, organize, implement and manage marketing and communications strategies and projects for the university and its schools/units. Direct the daily activities of the Office of University Marketing Communications' administrative staff, and assist in overseeing all projects and activities of professional staff. Direct the development of all types of media that help shape UofL's public image: magazine/periodical publishing; TV/print/outdoor advertising; and print/broadcast/multi-media marketing materials. Manage editorial content planning and assignment coordination for UofL Magazine.


Direct editorial planning for UofL Magazine, including story budgets, internal and free-lance assignment coordination, writing, copy editing and proofreading. Lead creative meetings of editorial staff. Work with magazine staff and contributors to track deadlines and meet publication dates. Seek input from and maintain relationships with deans and administrators.

Manage projects that support the university's integrated marketing strategy, focused on student recruitment and enhancement of the university's image. Produce print and multi-media materials related to these marketing and communication strategies. Supervise external vendors. Assist in planning and strategy development with deans and administrators.

Lead or assist with communications projects such as publications, print/broadcast/multi-media projects, special events and graphic standards. Oversee work of internal staff and external vendors including writers, video producers, graphic designers and photographers. Develop and initiate proposals for new projects, working with university clients.

Supervise office administration team and daily office management, including purchasing, budget tracking, personnel, payroll and project support activities, through effective delegation. Conduce personnel activities including recruiting, hiring evaluation, discipline and motivation. Insure university policies are followed.

Master's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration or related field.


Six years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
