Job Summary

Coordinate the delivery of University and auxiliary services to international students; facilitate cultural adjustments through orientation and personal advising; ensure compliance with government regulations, and serve as campus-wide resource/liaison on immigration/international issues.

Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as primary source of information on immigration regulations for international students and scholars at the University.

Review applications and documents completed for and by international students for Immigration Service and University admissions.

Resolve more complicated immigration compliance issues and problems.

Counsel international students on academic and/or personal matters.

Confer with University departments, financial sponsors, foreign embassies and international applicants and students on Center issues and program concerns.

Serve as Responsible Officer for the U.S. Information Agency's J-1 Exchange Visitor Program.

Serve as information resource to campus and community constituents on immigration matters and questions pertaining to international issues.

Represents the Center and University on internal committees and at external functions.

Develop, organize, coordinate and implement orientation and other programs to promote good relations between international and American students.

Work with the Director and Associate Director on Center policy and operational issues.

Prepare and distribute newsletters and other materials to special interest groups.

Act as liaison with international scholarship organizations, foreign embassies, and other associations engaged in international student matters.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

Master's degree in a related field


Three years of related experience.  An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
