Job Summary

To assist the Director of Intramural and Recreational Sports in managing 500,000 annual participation in all phases of a comprehensive, recreational, and sports program with specific responsibility for managing the daily operation of three recreational facilities: Crawford, Humana Gym and Student Activities Recreational Center.

Duties and Responsibilities

To organize, administer and maintain a diversified array of informal recreational opportunities for students, faculty, staff, alumni and their dependants at three recreational facilities. Supervise the activities of five full-time Equipment Clerks.

To organize, coordinate and negotiate the contracts for external facility rentals from local community High Schools, Cooperations and Youth Associations for weekend usage. Oversee the hiring, training, scheduling and evaluation of 50 student staff employees for the operation of the recreational area of the Student Activities Center.

Supervise the hiring, scheduling, and evaluation of 6 lifeguards and to oversee the daily operation and maintenance of Crawford. Supervise the job responsibilities and work schedule of two undergrad facility assistants. To design and coordinate the summer use of recreational facilities for the University community, Athletic camps, and other youth programs.

To determine budget requirements for student employees and equipment and supplies. Special projects (University-wide faculty/staff golf scramble and a number of other departmental special events.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

Master's degree in Sports Management, Recreational and/or Physical Education.


Four years related experience.

An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted.
