Pay Groups

Pay groups consist of employees which are grouped according to specific controls that govern the way in which payroll processing is handled for those employees. The primary controls include earnings program, benefit programs, holiday schedule, and compensation frequency.

Regular Pay Groups

 

A12 – Administrators: Employees who are permanent/regular administrators formally appointed by the university's Board of Trustees through the Center for Faculty Personnel.

B25 - Classified Staff (40.00 Hours/Week): Permanent/regular hourly staff who would work 40.00 hours per week if full-time. All positions within this category have a pay grade established within the job classified system.

D12 - Doctoral Trainees/Fellows: Regular employees who by IRS regulation are considered as "non-employees" and are excluded from participation in university-provided retirement annuities.

H12 - House Staff and Fellows: Employees performing services as resident interns at various hospitals and clinics. These permanent/regular employees are eligible for university-provided medical coverage, but not university-provided retirement annuities. House Staff are considered "non-employees".

F11 – Faculty (10 Monthly Payments): Permanent/regular faculty who would work an academic contract (August 1 to May 31) if full-time, and whose employment contracts are formally approved by the Board of Trustees.

F12 – Faculty (12 Monthly Payments): Permanent/regular faculty who would work an annual contract (July 1 to June 30) if full-time, and whose employment contracts are formally approved by the Board of Trustees. Faculty working under a ten-month academic contract, who elect to have their pay spread over the entire fiscal year, are also included in this group.

F51 – Faculty (10 Month Phased Retirement): Permanent/regular faculty who would work an academic contract (August 1 to May 31) if full-time and whose employment contracts are formally approved by the Board of Trustees. By special exception of the Board of Trustees, employees in this pay group have a reduced academic load and will work as a half-time employee for two years or as a one-third employee for three years immediately prior to actual retirement.

F52 – Faculty (12 Month Phased Retirement): Permanent/regular faculty who would work an annual contract (July 1 to June 30) if full-time, and whose employment contracts are formally approved by the Board of Trustees. By special exception of the Board of Trustees, employees in this pay group have a reduced academic load and will work as a half-time employee for two years or as a one-third-time employee for three years immediately prior to actual retirement.

Temporary Pay Groups

 

G12 - Graduate Fellows/Assistants: Salaried student employees, who are eligible (required) for student health insurance and must be enrolled as full-time students.

L11 - Contract Lecturers: Temporary faculty who by special exception of the Board of Trustees, are eligible to purchase medical coverage. N26 - NRA Accounts Payable Transactions

 

R12 - Restricted Salaried (AVPHR Approval Required): Permanent/regular employees who, due to special circumstances, cannot be assigned to another pay group for permanent/regular employees. Assignment to this pay group requires the specific approval of the Associate Vice President for Human Resources.
