English Grads Receive National & Local Renown

Isaac Mackin's Op-Ed in the Courier-Journal

Here in the English Department, we believe in starting off every semester strong. In Spring 2023, we're starting by celebrating our current and former students whose work is being spotlighted with national and local attention.

UofL English alum, Kristen Renee Miller, received a 2023 National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Translation. Kristen is Editor in Chief and Executive Director of Sarabande Books. Congratulations to Kristen for receiving such a prestigious award!

Current Public and Professional Writing student, Isaac Mackin, published an Op-Ed in the Courier Journal to shed light on Bernheim Forest's fight against a proposed LG&E pipeline. Isaac's piece, titled "Keep it in the Ground!," was written in Dr. Poole's "Science and Technical Writing" course. Kudos to Isaac for revising until this piece was publication ready!
