CEHD Educator Preparation Scholarship

Students may apply who are enrolled in the following educator preparation programs:

Initial Teacher Certification programs

  • B.S. in Early Elementary Education
  • B.S. in Middle and Secondary Education
  • All Master of Arts in Teaching programs
  • Certification “only” programs in Middle and Secondary Education

Advanced Certification Non-Degree programs

  • Endorsement programs (ESL, Instructional Technology, Classroom Reading, Elementary Math Specialist)
  • Certification "only" programs in Special Education (LBD & MSD)
  • Rank 1 programs
  • Education Administration programs (such as Principal, Supervisor of Instruction, Director of Special Education and Superintendent)

Advanced Certification Degree programs

  • MEd in Teacher Leadership
  • MEd in Special Education (LBD and MSD specifically)
  • MEd in Counseling & Personnel Services for School Counseling
  • EdS in Education Administration
  • EdD in Education Leadership
  • PhD in Curriculum and Instruction

Submission of the FAFSA is required to receive CEHD scholarship funding.

Graduate of a public high school in Kentucky: Are you a graduate of KY Public High School?  


First Generation College Student: Are you considered a first generation college student?  


Family Caretaking Responsibilities: In addition to being a student, do you have family caretaking responsibilities?  


Child of Louisville area teacher: Are you a child of a Louisville area teacher?  


Kentucky Teacher: If admitted to or enrolled in an initial teacher certification program or teacher pursuing an advanced program (M.Ed., Rank I, Endorsement, Certificate, Ed.S., Ph.D or Ed.D.), do you plan to teach in KY?  


Middle or High School Teacher: Are you admitted to or enrolled in an initial teacher certification program leading to middle or secondary certification? (Or) Are you a certified teacher in a Middle or High School?


Early Childhood Education: Are you admitted to or enrolled in an initial teacher certification program (B.S. or M.A.T.) or a certified teacher pursuing an advanced certification program in Early Childhood Education?  


Special Education: Are you admitted to or enrolled in an initial teacher certification program or a certified teacher pursuing an advanced certification program in Special Education?  


STEM Education: Are you admitted to or enrolled in an initial teacher certification program or a certified teacher pursuing an advanced teacher certification program to teach Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)?  


School Counselor: Are you admitted to or enrolled in the School Counseling program?  


Fern Creek High School Teacher: Are you a teacher at Fern Creek High School?  


Previous Scholarships: Have you ever received a scholarship from the College of Education and Human Development?  


The scholarship will be selected by a committee and awarded on the basis of need and/or merit, in accordance of the policies of the University of Louisville in place each year. Academic standing and professional dispositions will also be considered.
