Muhammad Ali Institute for Peace and Justice

MAI Institute Banner

The Muhammad Ali Institute for Peace and Justice (MAI) advances the work, study, and practice of peace building, social justice, and violence prevention at the University of Louisville with a focus on developing young leaders. Our work is inspired by Muhammad Ali’s courage, passion, and conviction, as well as his work as a transformational humanitarian and tireless advocate for freedom, justice, and equality. MAI celebrates Muhammad Ali’s vision of a better world in collaboration with the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, and others committed to his legacy. MAI’s hallmark, the Muhammad Ali Scholars Program, offers a two-year mentored scholarship dedicated to preparing the next generation of leaders to serve as agents of peace and justice in their communities. MAI’s innovative educational programs, research, training, and service initiatives further peace and justice by promoting respect for human dignity, fostering social responsibility, and seeking to reduce violence in local, national, and international arenas.
